Yoga

Yoga has been a big part of my life for the last 10 years. I first really fell in love with yoga when I attended my first Bikram yoga class in 2010. The push in these type of hot classes was exactly what I needed at the time, and instilled persistence and perseverance into my practice. I knew what pose would come next and could always prepare my mind and body to push myself through to the end. My typical practice no longer includes Bikram, rather a Baptiste inspired power flow, vinyasa, or aerial yoga class that I can really delve into, all while adding my own creativity into the flows.

I am the kind of person who lives in their head a lot, but stepping onto my mat, I immediately feel grounded and connected to the space. Leaving behind my thoughts and questions floating through my mind, I am able to disconnect from the outside world and truly connect to me. This isn’t something that comes naturally to me, but is something that I have learned to practice. This is exactly what yoga is, a constant practice. Yoga is always a reminder of what I can do for myself. I can create my own space, connect to my mind, my breath, all while controlling my thoughts and letting them be. There is something so freeing when you allow yourself to be present and sit in your space and energy. This, is what I love most about yoga.

I completed my 200 Hr yoga teacher training in 2018, and haven’t looked back since. I did my training for a few reasons - to enable myself to potentially work/volunteer while travelling abroad, but more importantly, it was another way to connect and learn more about myself, my practice, and what I really wanted in life. I didn’t necessarily plan on teaching right away, but it fell into my life and was something that I ended up appreciating more and more every week. Being able to guide people through their (sometimes first) yoga practice, and watching them grow on and off their mat (or aerial silk) is something that I never thought I would do, but have learned to love more than I thought I ever would.

Though I won’t be teaching consistently whilst travelling, I will post any upcoming classes that I pick up as I go along, and once I settle down, wherever that may be in the world!
