Who Am I?

Welcome to my lifestyle blog! My name is Mariah Bailer. I am 32, Canadian, a geophysicist, yogi, volunteer, and a world traveler. I am keen to explore, learn about new cultures & create new experiences — whether for others, or myself.

With this blog (or online travel journal if you will) I hope to share my voice through the photos and posts that I share - whether it’s the latest city or country that I’ve been to, experiences (whether good or bad) that I’ve had, or any other random tidbits or tricks I feel like others could benefit from. The focus will mainly be on travel, nature, & yoga, but I’ll throw in some other great surprises along the way. It’s been a longtime coming, so here goes!

It all started when…

I was fortunate to grow up with parents who always instilled curiosity into my sister and I, and who planted the travel bug in me in the first place. From family ‘picnics’ as a child, to my own around-the-world weekend trips now, they’ve always encouraged me to experience the world as they do, and I’ve been doing that as much as I can ever since.

Whilst traveling South America in 2017/2018, I realized that the travel life is the life I wanted to try and live - at least for a while. It has always been a dream of mine to do a world trip like this, but I was always waiting for the ‘right’ time. With a full-time job as a geophysicist in Calgary to go back to and a commitment to my company, I unenthusiastically returned from South America, but I knew something needed to change. I realized that looking back I would never regret leaving; I’d regret not leaving. After asking for a LOA and receiving the expected ‘no’ in response, I decided to resign to pursue my passion and put things into action. I’ve now been prepping for this trip for over the past year and a half, and it’s FINALLY happening!

I’ll be updating this blog over the next while to add some more info from previous travel locations, but if anyone has any questions about anywhere I’ve been, plan on going, or just want to reach out, I love to hear from all of you!
