Bol
Our next spot to dock on TYW was a town called Bol on the south side of the Island of Brac. The island most notably for its beaches, stone rumoured to be used in the White house, and the lamb (a must try in the Dalmatia area). The ‘Golden Horn’ aka Zlatni Rat Beach is situated on this island in Bol, is a main attraction, and is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen in Croatia. The ‘horn’ of this beach actually can shift +/- 50m in either direction depending on the extreme currents and wind in the area, exposing different rocks with it. The town is also well known to windsurfers as the winds here can get quite extreme (and causes quite a bit of chaos trying to dock the sailboats, as we got to witness first hand).
After lucking out and actually being able to dock here, we headed right to the beach club before I hit up my first yoga class and ‘activity’ outside of drinking with TYW - a yoga class to ‘zen’ out after the hectic past few days. As a yoga teacher and avid yogi at home, I have to say that this was the most bizarre class I have ever taken in my life. It had zero flow or structure to it, and was all over the place, but either way, it felt good to stretch and get the body moving again. The instructor was local to Croatia, so I can’t blame her for her ‘toe fingers’ queues and English ‘skills’ - she tried!
If you’re looking for some good food in Bol, make sure to check out the street markets along the water for dinner. Not only are they cheap, but they have a ton of fresh seafood if thats what you’re after. Later on for some nightlife, take the ‘train’ to head to the infamous Club 585. Walking in (though its all mostly outdoors) you will be enthralled by a gorgeous multi-level space with a DJ and huge dance floor. This club was just like something out of a movie - booming beats echoed into the surrounding forest, Belvedere vodka was the ‘well’ vodka and everyone was dressed to impress. Grab a drink, hit the dance floor and dance the night away on the beautiful island of Bol before setting sail to your next destination (or doing it all over again)!
